There has been a surge in the populalarity of scented wax melts. As a result there are now more warming options to choose from. We will discuss the pro's and con's of the various wax melt warmers available.
Oil Burner
Scented wax melts can be warmed in an oil burner, the type that has a tealight underneath a reservoir. The wax melt is placed in the dry reservoir. Most of us will have this type of warmer around the home without the need to invest in further warmers.
Pro's
- Convenient to place around the home (no need for wires / electric)
- Inexpensive (you can often find them in the thrift stores)
- Temperature wax is heated to is high (releases scent well, good scent throw)
Con's
- A flame is needed to melt the wax melt.
- The reservoir can be quite small
- The fragrance in the wax melt may dissapate quicker due to the hotter temperature.
Electric Bulb Warmer
Electric warmers that use small halogen bulbs have increased in popularity. They are often very attractive and double up as a small lamp. There can be differences in the temperature emmited from the warmer, you need to find one that has a higher wattage.

Electric Hot Plate Warmer
Electric hot plate warmers are similar to the bulb warmers except they have a flat plate that heats up, like a little cooker ring. The dish sits on top. You can find this type of wax warmer in most general stores.
